Texting and Driving: Protecting Your Teen

We’ve all been there: the notification alert goes off, you see that you have a text, and you check it- even though you know you shouldn’t- while you’re driving. Texting and driving is especially dangerous for teens. It’s a good idea to talk to your teen about texting and driving in a non-accusatory way, so they know that you’re talking to them out of concern. Encourage your teen to put the phone on silent and put it away in the center console, glove compartment, or their purse or backpack. Tell your teen that if they truly feel the need to check their phone, its important to pull over and stop the car. You love your teen and want to keep them safe.
